Shirley Burke Waters

Sylvania – Shirley Ann Burke Waters, age 77, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021, at Candler Hospital in Savannah with her loving family at her side. She was born in Jenkins County to the late James Estill & Ruby Mae Brown Burke.  She was a member of McDonald Baptist Church and she loved working with her flowers in her yard. Shirley’s whole world revolved around her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Marie C. Waters, her brother, Lamar Burke, and sisters, Margie Woodell, Sydney Jones, Allene Bell and Mary Elliott.

Survivors include her husband of 53 wonderful years, William Ronnie Waters of Sylvania, her sons and daughters-in-law, Troy B. & Peggy Waters of Bloomingdale, GA, Christopher J. “Chris” & Kristal Waters of Savannah, GA and W. Darrick Waters of Sylvania, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sarah & Rupert Aaron, her beloved grandchildren, Ansley Waters and her fiancé, Jacob Schweiger, Addyson Waters and Aidan Waters, step-grandchildren, Hannah Sammons (Brooks), Billy Lariscy, III (Hannah), Elizabeth Newsome, Amber Shaw and Paige Shaw, step-great-grandchildren,  Abigail Sammons, Billy Lariscy IV,  Brooks Newsome, Layla Newsome, Briley Gacke and Bryatt Gacke. She is also survived by her dear friend, Minnie Lee Benton and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, November 26, 2021, at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Kent and Dr. John Parker officiating. Burial following at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers: John T. Herrington, Boyd Johnson, Larry Aaron, William Thomas, Tucker Thomas, Glynn Bassett, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Brian & Sherry Bohannon, Bob & Cynthia McBride, Glenda Armstrong, Mary Delaigle, Bud & Dot Odom, Betty Powell, Lillian Oglesby, Mickie Odom and Connie Ewing.
