Sandra "Sandy" Louise Helmly Oglesby

Kildare, GA - Sandra “Sandy” Louise Helmly Oglesby, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at her residence under the care of her loving family and Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born in Effingham County, GA to the late Reginald “Sam” & Gladys Lynch Helmly and lived there for most of her life.  She loved to plant flowers, enjoyed cooking and sewing, but most of all spending time with her family.  She was also a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glynn Helmly.

Survivors:  Her Husband of 60 years, George Langwood Oglesby, Jr. of Kildare, GA;  Daughter and Son-in-Law: Tracy O. & Terry Smith of Statesboro, GA; Sons and Daughter-in-Law: Steven & Carol Oglesby of Springfield, GA and Brent Oglesby of Newington, GA; Sister: Kay H. Kitchens of Charleston, SC; Brother: Dillard Helmly of Rincon, GA; Sister-In-Law: Evelyn Helmly of Savannah, GA; 9 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Memorial Service: Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at Mizpah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Madison Morgan officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at the church social hall.

A private burial will be in the Rincon Cemetery at later time.
