Sylvania – Robert Garland “Bob” Holtzclaw, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Fort Jackson, SC to the late Charles Wilson & Margaret Louise Wilson Holtzclaw. He was a 27-year retiree of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam War Era. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 19 years of service and was co-owner of Brown’s Country Kitchen, as well as a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Men’s Sunday School Class at Green Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Brother: Glen Holtzclaw.
Survivors: Wife: Marie “Nutty” Brown Holtzclaw of Sylvania; Daughters: Crystal H. Kirk of Moultrie, GA and Margaret Louise Lee of Prattville, AL; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Karl E. and Lynn J. Dietsch of Avera, GA; Sister and Brother-In-Law: Lydia H. & Mike Smith of Gastonia, NC; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Friday, November 6, 2020 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Green Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Sharpe and Rev. Pete Wall officiating. Burial following at Green Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Pallbearers: U.S. Air Force Honor Guard; Honorary Pallbearers: Member’s of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Green Hill Baptist Church, Members of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Olin Boyd, Will Boyd, Ben Boyd, Lloyd Lariscy, David Crews and Gary Crews.
