Myrtle Helen Murray Rooker

Rincon, Georgia--- Mrs. Myrtle Helen Murray Rooker, age 96, of Rincon, Georgia, passed away Saturday morning, October 10, 2020, at her son's residence in Fairfax, South Carolina under hospice care and her loving family.  She was born June 22, 1924, in Screven County, Georgia to the late Lawrence and Maxie Austin Murray.  She was a homemaker and a member of the New Bethel Pentecostal Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Rooker, her daughter, Judy Knowles, her sisters, Mary Lee and Elma Oliver, and her brother, Herman Murray.

Survivors:  Her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Mel Turner of Rincon, Georgia, her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Imajean Rooker of Fairfax, S.C., Johnny and Tammie Rooker of Rincon, GA, and Joseph Rooker of Guyton, GA, her sister, Edell Bassett of Dover, GA, 13 Grandchildren, 39 Great-Grandchildren, 16 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in the New Bethel Pentecostal Church in Effingham County, Georgia with Brother Darrel Childress and Sister Selah Childress officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, October 12, 2020, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the New Bethel Pentecostal Church, 2402 Old Dixie Highway South, Springfield, GA .

Active pallbearers will be:  Mike Herndon, Jeff Rooker, Mark Rooker, Roger Rooker, Larry Rooker, and Lee Moone.

Honorary pallbearers will be:  Mel Turner, Donnie Griffin, David Oaks and Scotty Howell.
