MELVIN SAMUEL GORDON

Melvin Samuel Gordon, of Springfield, GA, age 83, passed away on Saturday evening, January 13. 2024 at his residence with family at his side.

Melvin was born in Long County, GA, on January 19, 1940, to the late couple, King Samuel Gordon & Cora Lee Sallette Gordon. He was an USAF Vietnam veteran and worked in data processing. Melvin was a loving husband and father; he enjoyed time with his family. He extended that love to everyone he met and insisted on feeding friends. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and was an animal lover.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his son, Michael Waters; brothers, Madison Gordon, Danny Gordon, Larry Gordon, Kim Gordon, and his sister, Glenda Gordon.

Those who will cherish his memory include his loving wife, Billie Jean Gordon; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna & Peter Brennan, Michelle & Glenn Sikes, Vicki Waters Morton; sons, Wendell Waters, Barry Waters; brother and sister-in-law, Don & Sharon Gordon; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Screven County Memorial Cemetery in Sylvania, GA.
