“Will the circle be unbroken – by and by, Lord, by and by…” On May 25, 2022, Marietta Louise Thomas Kidd, joined the circle of life to be united with her grandmother, Mary Kirk; her mother, Ada Kirk Thomas; and her father, James “Jimmy” Ellis Thomas, all who previously lived in Mt. Hope, West Virginia.
Marietta was born in Fayette county, West Virginia in 1925. She became a Certified Professional Secretary and was a member of the National Secretaries Association. Marietta worked for the New River Coal Company in Mt. Hope. She then worked for the Columbia Gas System in Charleston, West Virginia until she retired in 1983.
She was a member of the Women’s Masonic orders: The Eastern Star, The Order of the Amaranth and The White Shrine of Jerusalem. Her life was marked by service to her family, her church and her friends.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Petry & Ray Wilson of Guyton, Georgia and Jayne Kidd & Charles Romero of Gleneden Beach, Oregon; her sister, Suzanne Thomas Miller of Danville, Virginia; and her brother James “Jim” Edward Thomas of Oil City Pennsylvania; her four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
