Rocky Ford - James Ward “Jimmy” Hankinson, III, age 83, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021, at his residence. He was born September 26, 1937, in Millen, Georgia, to the late James Ward, Jr. & Deloris Krulic Hankinson. He was a member of the Rocky Ford Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, was a maintenance supervisor for the Jockey International Company in Millen, retiring after 45 years of service. He served as Mayor of the City of Rocky Ford, GA for 22 years and served with the Statesboro Unit of the Army National Guard for 8 years. He was a self-taught pilot, enjoying flying ultra-light aircraft and remote-control planes as well.
Survivors: Wife: Frances Lee Hankinson of Rocky Ford; Daughter and Son-in-Law: Sheryl H. & Wayne Morris of Soperton, GA; Son and Daughter-in-Law: Charles Glen & Sherry Hankinson of Rocky Ford; Brother: Charles Robert Hankinson of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren: April Morris & Roby Leffew, Jonathan Ward Morris, Kaitlin Alysia Hankinson, Kali Elizabeth & Andy Harlow, Taylor Lynn Hankinson and Trent Lee Morris; Great-Grandchildren: Micah Jonathan Morris, Annabelle Lynn Hankinson, Rhett Leffew, and Jace Leffew; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services: Monday, February 15, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Bragg officiating. Burial at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers: Andy Michael Harlow, Trent Morris, Tracy Lee, Tyler Donovan Lee, Ken Mock and Micah Morris. Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Collins, and the Deacons of Rocky Ford Baptist Church.
