JOHN FRANKLIN ARMSTRONG 

 

     John Franklin Armstrong, age 86, husband of Glenda Smith Armstrong, passed away on Sunday evening, December 17, 2023, at his residence with family by his side.

     Johnny was born on October 31, 1937, in Ida, Louisiana, to the late couple, John & Daisy Armstrong. Johnny was an educator for 32 years and retired from the Screven County Board of Education in 2003. He served as a Deacon at Sylvania First Baptist Church, and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Johnny enjoyed working on computers, doing yard work, feeding “his” birds. He especially loved special projects outdoors with his grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Ann McKinney.

     Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Glenda Armstrong; son and daughter-in-law, John David & Stacey Chapman Armstrong; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela McBride & Rob Mesecher, Stephanie McBride & Chris Burke; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray & Anna Beth Armstrong; 6 grandchildren, Emily Armstrong, Ian Armstrong, Micah Mesecher, Sarah Mesecher, Cade Burke and Braylon Burke, and several nieces and nephews.

     A visitation will be held at Sylvania First Baptist Church from 1 PM to 2 PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, the memorial service will commence at 2 PM and will be officiated by Dr. Charlie Cooper and Pastor Clint Sheppard.
