JAMES "JIM" COTTLE Obituary

SYLVANIA, GEORGIA

JAMES "JIM" BARTON COTTLE

James “Jim” Barton Cottle, age 71, of Sylvania, husband of Kathy Cottle, passed away on Friday evening, November 17, 2023, at his residence in Sylvania.

Jim was born in Akron, Oh, on June 25, 1952, to the late couple James Frederick & Imogene Barton Cottle. He was an aviation engineer, retired from Gulfstream Aerospace and a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. Jim was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. He enjoyed all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed woodworking. He passed his love for music to his grandchildren through music lessons, attending blues festivals and creating cigar box guitars.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric James Cottle. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy Jo Slifko Cottle, son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin Lee & Shannon Cottle; son, James Young; grandchildren, who knew him as Papa T-Rex, Elizabeth Cottle, Gwendolyn Cottle, Caleb Cottle, Keaton Cottle and Lukas Tedder; and several nieces and nephews.

He loved a good joke and making others laugh. Now, the heavens will be shaking with laughter.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers during the interim, please send donations to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, 1603 McIntosh St. Vidalia, GA 30474.
