H. E. "Nooney" Lariscy, Sr.

Hubert Eugene “Nooney” Lariscy, Sr., age 89, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020, at his residence under the care of his loving family. He was born in Screven County to the late Maye Jenkins Lariscy and was a member of Double Heads Baptist Church. Nooney began working at the age of six with a paper route and delivered groceries and sold blackberries from his bicycle at an early age. He and his brother, Wilbur were upholsters and operated Lariscy Furniture Company for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1995. He was owner and Auctioneer of Sylvania Auction Company from 1979 until he retired in February 2020. He was a Veteran of the Korean War Era at Fort Sill, OK, worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the City of Sylvania, and served as a referee for youth sports. When he wasn’t working to provide for his family, he enjoyed yard sales, was a member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club, and was an avid card player. He was a dedicated supporter of the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, donating over 30 gallons of blood during his lifetime. Nooney was the youngest and last surviving member of 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors: Wife of 63 wonderful years: Gloria North Lariscy of Sylvania; Daughters and Sons-ln-Law: Donna L. & Wendy Madray of Anderson, SC and Kim L. & Ed McMillian of Sylvania; Son: Hubert “Bert” Eugene Lariscy, Jr. of Jackson, GA; Grandchildren: Dustin & Charley K. McMillan of Sylvania, Ryan Madray & Lisa Walden of Spartanburg, SC, Ethan & Whitney R. McMillan of Sylvania, Kendall Madray of Anderson, SC and Crystal & Tony Rogers of Fairhope, AL; Great-Grandchildren: Kellan McMillan and Sailor Ann McMillan, both of Sylvania, Trace Rogers of Fairhope, AL and Lilliegh Walden and Lucy Walden, both of Spartanburg, SC; A number of Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside Services: Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Screven County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Bill Kent officiating. Burial following. Visitation will be at the Lariscy Home, following the services.

Pallbearers: Immediate Family; Honorary Pallbearers: Friends and Loving Family of “Nooney”.
