David Burke, Jr.

Sylvania – David Burke, Jr, age 66, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Memorial University Medical Center, in Savannah, Georgia.  He was born February 21, 1955, in Jenkins County, GA to Walton Lee Landing Burke and the late David “Willie” Burke, Sr. David was a diesel mechanic and the owner of D&J Trucking. He was of Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Regina Burke and a brother, Emory Burke.

Survivors: Wife: Candace Marie Waters Burke of Sylvania; Daughter: Dana Ann Burke of Sylvania; Sons: Jaime Elton Newsome of Statesboro and David Jackson Burke of Sylvania; Stepdaughter: Marie Waters of Sylvania; Mother: Walton Lee Landing Burke of Sylvania; Brothers: Ronnie Lee Burke and Crawford Burke, both of Sylvania; Grandchildren: Makayla Landing, Justin Newsome, Madison Newsome, Hayden Burke, Blakely Hodges and Riley Landing; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Jackson officiating.  Burial following at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, in Millen.

Pallbearers: Rusty Rosier, John Rosier, Allen Fulmer, Sean Mills, Cornelius Cooper, Bryce Cooper and John Ashley Rosier. Honorary Pallbearers: Jimmy Smith, Travis Waters, David Bunch and Phillip Gassaway.
