William Albert Ford

SYLVANIA

William Albert Ford, age 88, died May 15, 2026 at his home in Sylvania, GA. surrounded by his children and several of his grandchildren.

He was born on January 22, 1938 in the District of Columbia to parents Wayne and Josephine Ford. “Bill” grew up with two brothers, Wayne and Franklin. He graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1956.

From 1960 – 1969 Bill served in the U.S. Naval Air Reserves. Originally assigned at Bolling AFB, Washington D.C., he trained & qualified as an “Aviation Machinist Mate”. He was eventually stationed at Patuxent River Air Force Base, beginning his service as Aircraft Maintenance, then Flight Crew and then as Flight Engineer & Crew Chief.

During this time Bill met the love of his life and married Carolyn Cannon on May 29, 1962. Bill formally adopted Carolyn’s two young daughters Vickie and Valerie as his own, before son Jeffrey joined the family on July 8, 1963 and daughter Holly on December 22, 1975.

After a short employment with Monumental Life Insurance Company, in 1967 Bill established Precision Engine Machine Co. (Hyattsville, MD) in partnership with Dick Burgess. Dick was the tuner and mechanic while “Billy” did all of the machine work. After moving to Sylvania in 1995 Bill established Precision Engine II, where he & his son Jeffrey have served automotive & racing customers since. The business continues under the ownership of Bill’s son Jeffrey.

Bill was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvania and served on the Board of Deacons.

Surviving are his four children and their spouses: Vickie (Neal) Templin of Park Hill, OK; Valerie (Redgie) Rogers of Aurora, CO; Jeffrey (Karla) Ford of Sylvania, GA; and Holly (Trey) Murphy of Rockledge, FL; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill’s celebration of life service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Sylvania on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
