Wayne Lee McBride

Wayne Lee McBride, 50, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on July 27th, 2025. Born on December 28, 1974, in Statesboro, Georgia, he grew up in Sylvania, where he developed a love of the outdoors—especially hunting, fishing, and camping, and sharing stories around a campfire with friends. Wayne later made Texas his home, where for more than 20 years he was known for his bright smile, boundless energy, and larger-than-life personality.

Wayne had a gift for making every gathering brighter. Adventurous, kind, and quick to laughter, he had an uncommon ability to turn strangers into lifelong friends. He shared his joy generously with those around him. Of all his passions, nothing meant more to him than his two sons, Devan and Blake, who were his greatest pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward Lee McBride and Maria Lydia Audillia McBride. He is survived by his sons, Devan McBride of Sylvania, Georgia, and Blake McBride of Odessa, Texas, as well as a wide circle of friends who will remember him with love and gratitude.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at McDonald Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to honor a man whose smile could light up any room and whose generous spirit touched countless lives. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages raising a toast to Wayne’s memory or spending a day outdoors in his honor.”
