SYLVANIA

Warren “SPIKE” Stafford died peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at his Sylvania home of nearly 60 years on Buttermilk Road.

Spike was Born July 9, 1943 in Sylvania and remained in Screven County his entire life. He was the son of the late Williams Jefferson and Lozzie Ola Williams Stafford, both of Screven County.

Nearly everyone in this county knew Spike – where he farmed and also operated a successful construction business. Spike’s passions were hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Christie Bragg Stafford and a sister, Maudeen Findley, both of Sylvania along with multiple nieces and nephews.

Spike is preceded in death by sisters Nina Scott, Luree Hodges, Arnell Stafford, Jeanette Stafford, Cora Lee Stafford, Carolyn Adams, Shirley Ann Newton and Mattie Belle Dutton – and brothers, Emory, Bo, Thomas, Robert, Paul and Lewis Stafford.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31 at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel

The funeral will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1 at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel with Lucky Boyd officiating.

 Interment will follow at Screven Memorial Cemetery

The family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
