Terry Sturkey

December 5, 1963 — May 20, 2026

SYLVANIA

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Eugene Sturkey on May 20, 2026. He was born on December 5,1963 in Thomson, GA.

He was the son of Horris & Sheron Allen (Sardis, GA) and the late Gene & Eva Sturkey (Thompson, Ga). He is also survived by his sisters, Angela (Scott) Davis (Sardis, GA), Becky (Bo) Smith (Sylvania, GA), Cathy S. (Todd) Ward (Phenix City, AL), Lynn Sturkey (Phenix City, AL), Tina Sturkey (Thompson, GA): his nieces and nephews, Meghan (John) Hamner, Allen (Chloe) Smith, Abigail (Joe) O'Toole, Brianna (Aaron) Powell, BlazeSmith, Daniel (Haley) Tucker, Robert (Katelyn) Davis, John (Sophia) Davis, Ashlee Sadler, J.D. Davis, Kym (Justin) Echerd, Michael L. Ward, Amanda Bryan, Breezie (Zach) Kelly, Tracie (Randy) Murphy, Michael Morris, Mariah (Vincent) Ovalle, Lawanna Sturkey, Edward Sturkey: and a number of great nieces and great nephews.

Over the years, he worked as a batch plant operator at Plant Vogtle, a tug boat operator in Savannah, GA, worked with a dry wall construction company, and as a painter, before finding his work home with Sylvania Manufactured Homes. He was with Ray and Jackie Connor at SMH for the past 14 years as their Serviceman, where he found a long lasting family relationship with everyone.

He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. Never having any children of his own, he always stated he had more than enough nieces and nephews to love on ....and he did just that. He was a simple man who found joy in growing his plants and gifting them. Among the many little things, he enjoyed life's quiet moments, and never asked for much in life. His quiet strength, kind heart, and easygoing nature made him someone that everyone felt comfortable around.

He loved his family and friends deeply and was always there when needed — whether with a helping hand, a laugh, or simply his presence. As a son, he brought love and pride to his family. As a brother, he was a lifelong friend and protector. As an uncle, he was someone who could always make you smile and feel cared for.

He will be remembered for his humble spirit, his loyalty, and the way he made ordinary moments special. Though he may be gone from our sight, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him dearly and cherish the memories they shared with him forever.

We would like to invite his friends and family to join us in a celebration of life on Sunday, May 31st at 3:00pm. It will be held at 951 Shady Lane, Sylvania, GA 30467.
