Sam Leonard Cochran, III, passed away in Sylvania, Georgia, on September 17, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born in Millen, Georgia, on September 16, 1942.
Sam was a dedicated pharmacist who devoted 42 years to serving others through his profession. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Georgia. During his career, Sam served the communities of the Navajo Nation Indian Reservations in Kayenta, Arizona, and Shiprock, New Mexico. He also owned and operated Guyton Drugs for 15 years, where he continued his commitment to caring for the members of his community.
In addition to his professional career, Sam proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era. He was also a member of the Brier Creek Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marilyn McBride Cochran; and his parents, Leonard Cochran, Jr. and Minnie Lee Brown Cochran.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Cuyler Cochran; granddaughters, Erin Elizabeth Caldwell and Alyssa Danielle Caldwell; sisters, Geraldine Cochran Anderson and Ellen Lee Cochran; and brother, Charles Rodolph Cochran.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will be held at a later date at Screven Memorial Cemetery.
