Portland, OR – Richard “Rick” Louis Campo, age 67, passed away on December 27, 2020, at his home. He was born on May 7, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska to the late Dorothy Mae Waters and Louis “John” Jack Campo. He worked as Senior Project and Methodology Manager at Columbia Sportswear and had the honor of being the Project Manager for the animated movie “Coraline.” He was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.A. in English. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. He enjoyed reading autobiographies about sports figures, Stephen King novels and was once told by his wife that he was a “walking encyclopedia.” He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He was preceded in death, along with his parents, his sister, Elizabeth Boddiford (Sylvania, GA) and two brothers, Robert Campo (Sylvania, GA) and Mark Campo (Birmingham, AL).
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Christy Campo, along with his daughter and son-in-law, Alexander & Stephen Browne, his son, Gabriel Campo and fiancé, Andrea, his son, Christopher Campo, and friend, Birgitta. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Heather (Josh) Newman and Shannon Records (and friend, Ben Roeder), and 11 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, three sisters, Susan (David) Crews, Mary (Lewis) Sheley and Debbie (Rusty) Forehand, step-sister, Teresa (Roger) Bateman, step-brothers, Rodney (Patricia) Ray, Greg Day and Scott Ray, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family memorial service will be held.
