Rev. Dr. Karen Reddick Zeigler, age 71, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. Georgia.

Karen was born May 21, 1954 to the late Carey LeHolmes and Frances Bazemore Reddick. She earned her nursing license early on and served as the administrator of Syl-View Health Care before entering the ministry. Karen loved learning about her Lord and Savior and later earned her Doctorate Degree in Theology. She served many United Methodist Churches in South Georgia including: Keysville, Goloid, Oak Grove, Rocky Ford, Melton Chapel and Zoar in Baxley, Sardis, Ellis Chapel, Hiltonia, and Newington as well as Newington Global Methodist. Karen was a faithful member of McBride Church until she entered the ministry in 1993. She then served where the ministry sent her for over 30 years, returning to McBride Church on June 9, 2024.

Karen enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, cooking, crocheting, playing with her cats, shopping, keeping up with the news and serving the congregations of her churches.

In 1977, Karen married Willie Zeigler and built a life filled with laughter and love and raised a beautiful family. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother known for her love of ministry and dedication to serving the Lord. She was especially known for her ability to comfort grieving families and the way that she helped celebrate the lives of those who passed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carey and Frances Reddick, brothers, Edwin (Cheryl) Reddick and Glenn Reddick, brothers-in-law, Fred Zeigler, Don (Gaetanna) Lariscy and Ken McMillan, sisters-in-law, Ellie Finch and Jean (Bobby) Hayman.

Karen is survived by her husband Willie Zeigler, son and daughter-in-law, William Carey “Will” and Deanna Zeigler, granddaughters, Peyton and Carlyn Zeigler, sister-in-law, Johnnie Reddick, brothers-in-law, Ed (Kim) McMillan and Chris (Jan) McMillan, several nieces and nephews, special son, Fernando Martinez and many church friends that she considered family. She will be greatly missed by all friends and family who knew her. 

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, December 7th at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel. 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, December 8th at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel with interment following in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Kile, Ed McMillan, Randall McBride, Bill Forehand, Todd Campbell, and Chip Dixon

Honorary Pallbearers will include Toni Ellison, Lucy Teston, Fernando Martinez, Dawn Hayman, Gaynell Tse, Don Bazemore, Ruth Bazemore, Kitty Newton, Jean Sturdivant, Brenda Scott and the members of the many congregations that she has pastored over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Karen R. Zeigler Memorial Account at the Bank of Newington to support patient needs at PineView Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sylvania, Georgia.
