PAUL E. ANDERSON

Paul Emerson Anderson of Sylvania, Georgia gained his wings on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia with his family at his side.

He was born in Fort Pierce, Florida on June 30, 1943, to the late Chauncey & Eulaine Anderson. He grew up in Fort Myers, Florida. At the age of 17 he proudly enlisted in the Army to serve his country. Paul’s father’s family originated in Screven County, so in 1974 Paul moved his wife and two daughters to Sylvania, Georgia. Paul owned Screven Ford Tractor and was a tractor enthusiast.  Most people know him because of his exceptional talent for refurbishing and painting tractors. To this day pictures of his beautifully painted tractors are displayed behind the Napa Auto Parts counter in Sylvania. He enjoyed raising mules and donkeys and he had a love for music. At the age of 30 he taught himself to play the guitar. For many years he gathered with friends and family on the weekends in the shop behind his house known as “The Bay Branch Opry House” to do some picking and grinning as he put it. In February 1998 he closed the Screven Ford Tractor dealership, but he soon started Georgia Tractor Parts and continued to serve the local area with tractor repairs and total restoration of tractors with the help of his good friend and mechanic Ronnie Burke.

He was a devout family man and loved the Lord! He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 56 years Carmeletta “Cookie”, daughter Kendra Leona Anderson, brother Larry Anderson and beloved fur- baby Susie Q.

He leaves behind three sisters, Dixie Wooten (Larry), Judy Byrd (Ralph), Sharon Parker, brother Russell Anderson, stepmom Thelma Anderson, two daughters Kiesha DeLoach (Emory) and Petra Vanlandingham (Scot). Nine grandchildren Ashley Thompson (Clay), Amber Mock (Nick), Alyson Smith (Andrew), Carson Crosby (Abbie), Gage Vanlandingham, Sydni Vanlandingham, Kale Vanlandingham, John DeLoach & Allison Lee (Jamie). Twelve great-grandchildren Payton Thompson, Avery Thompson, Nathan Mock, Savanna Portlock, Tanna Mock, Kynzee Churchwell, Ryleigh Portlock, Ava Smith, Raylan Thompson, Dawson Mock, Reagan Lee and Addi Smith. Numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful fur-babies Pup-Pup and Tinkerbell.

He will forever be cherished and remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a man of unwavering faith who left an indelible mark on the hearts and lives of those he touched.

The family will receive friends to Celebrate Paul's life on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 12 noon to 1’oclock, at Double Heads Baptist Church.

The service will commence at 1 o'clock with his sister Judy Byrd leading the service. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Double Heads Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Johnson, John DeLoach, Carson Crosby, Gage Vanlandingham, Kale Vanlandingham, Nathan Mock.

Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Bay Branch Opry House & Cason Childers.

Following the services family & friends will be received at the home of Nick and Amber Mock, 2064 Stoopto Road, Sylvania, Georgia.
