Michelle “Shelley” Elizabeth Bignault, age 69, died peacefully in her home in Sylvania, GA on July 17th, 2026.

She was born in January 1957 in Savannah, GA, and continued to live in Savannah where she gave birth to her two sons, John Ryan Lyle and Thomas Henri Lyle. Later in life, Michelle moved to the mountains of Murphy, NC where she lived with her partner Mike Radcliffe for many happy years. After his death, she moved back to Sylvania, GA to be closer to her sons.

Michelle obtained an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Armstrong Atlantic State University and continued to work as a hygienist for her entire career. She was active in her churches both in Murphy as well as in Sylvania. Michelle was an artist at heart. She dabbled in painting and leatherworking and cooking. She was an avid nature lover and enjoyed spending time outdoors and among the mountains. She was a lover of animals and cherished her many dogs throughout the years. Michelle also felt a deep spiritual connection with her Native American ancestry, and she often incorporated their spirituality and traditions into her art.

Michelle is survived by her two sons, John and Thomas of Port Wentworth, GA, as well as her brother Devlon Bignault of Bowling Green, KY.

Michelle will be laid to rest in a private ceremony of her friends and family. Anyone wishing to send their regards may contact her oldest son, John.
