Marilyn Covington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13th, surrounded by love. She was a woman of remarkable strength and kindness, whose presence positively impacted the lives of those who knew her. Marilyn was a lifelong lover of flowers. Her abundant gardens were not only a canvas of color and fragrance, but also a reflection of her soul—vibrant, resilient, and full of beauty. Whether tending a single rose bush or nurturing an entire bed of blooms, her passion for nature was a continuous reminder to always find joy in life’s simplest wonders. Another of her lifelong loves was animals, particularly her deaf dog with whom she shared a remarkable bond of shared loyalty and unconditional love. She was known to never turn away a stray animal and always opened her heart and home to those in need. Strong-willed, stubborn, and always true to herself, Marilyn’s strength carried her through life’s challenges and her unwavering spirit inspired those around her. Beneath the toughness was a heart of deep tenderness and compassion. She had a way of making others feel seen and cared for, and was always ready to give love and laughter in equal measure. Above all, Marilyn was devoted to her family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Covington. She was the proud mother of April Covington (Lucky Dickey), Jessica Covington (Jeremy Rosier), and Jonathan Covington (Cortney Covington), who will carry her lessons, love, and strength with them always. She also cherished her role as grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, Jameson and Sophia Rosier, who brought her endless joy. Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of resilience, beauty, and love that will live on in her children, her grandchildren, her friends, and the countless flowers that will bloom in her memory. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we take comfort in knowing her spirit will forever be rooted in the gardens she adored and in the lives she enriched. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Screven County Spay & Neuter Corp, https://www.screvenspayandneuter.com/donate.
