Kerry Sharpe

Kerry David Sharpe, 68, of Sylvania, Georgia passed away on April 18, 2026. He was born to the late David Weldon and Maurice Forehand Sharpe on December 25, 1957. He had an idyllic childhood growing up in HIltonia, Ga, with his Aunts and Uncles and playing with his many cousins. Kerry graduated from Screven County High School in 1976 and then married Julia Waters on September 8, 1983. He was the produce manager for a local grocery store before becoming a machine operator at Fort Howard in Savannah, Ga. After a motor vehicle accident in July of 1991 Kerry was left with limited mobility but despite his many health struggles he remained a positive and influential figure in his family's lives. He had always loved being outdoors but after his accident his love became a deep passion where family and friends came to him for advice on plant life and gardening. He also loved to paint, sing with the choir and his girls, and loved to listen to music. He loved spending time with his children and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and “Poppy” as nicknamed by his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Katelyn “Beth” Sharpe, Kayde Sharpe Moore, son in law Guy “Yank” Moore, grandchildren Avery and Gemma Moore, sister and brother in law Phyllis and Ray Reynolds, nephew and his wife, Kyle and Randi Reynolds, great niece Rian Reynolds and nephew Russel Waters.

Services will be held on Friday April 24th,2026. Visitation will be at 5pm and the funeral at 6pm at the Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel in Sylvania, GA.
