Ruby Jewel Harris Robbins was born in Waycross, Georgia, on December 11, 1925, to Jesse Rogers Harris and Ruby Mae Lee Harris. Initially, they lived in Register, Georgia, but moved to Miami and Orlando, Florida. During summer vacation, she often traveled with her brothers Jesse and Vernon Harris to visit her maternal grandmother in Rocky Ford, Georgia. After completing high school in Orlando, she married Raymond R Robbins of Dover, Georgia, in July of 1944. They lived in Savannah for a few years and then moved to Sylvania. She served as bookkeeper and secretary for her husband’s company, Robbins Contractors, and reared two children, Ricki Lynn and Matthew Raymond. After her children graduated from college, Jewel returned to Georgia Southern to earn her real estate and broker licenses. She bought the Pyramid building on 301 Highway and established Pyramid Realty. She enjoyed working in the real estate and appraisal fields for forty years. The couple enjoyed 4 step-grandchildren, Becky, Cindy, Scott, and Joe, two grandchildren, Courtney and Tyler, and numerous great-grandchildren. Jewel lived independently and then with her daughter for the next 20 years. She died in her sleep on May 13, 2025.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church Sylvania with Rev. Clint Sheppard officiating, burial to follow at Double Heads Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Robbins, Tyler Robbins, Tyler Smith, M. Heyward Robbins III, M. Heyward Robbins IV, and John Stanfield.
Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home is in Charge of all arrangements.
