Jessie Thomas Bell, Jr. “Tommy,” 69, of Sylvania, Georgia, passed away on April 18, 2026, leaving behind a life full of hard work, creativity, and a deep love for family and the outdoors.
Born in Statesboro and raised in Sylvania, Tommy never strayed far from the place he called home. It was there he built his life, his reputation, and the relationships that meant so much to him.
Tommy was known by many as a talented automotive technician, especially when it came to front-end work. If something needed fixing, Tommy was the one people trusted. But more than that, he had a gift—he could take almost nothing and turn it into something. Whether working on cars or building with his hands, he had a way of making things come to life.
He loved old cars and had a true need for speed, always enjoying the thrill of the ride, but he also found peace in the quiet moments—being outdoors, spending time on the family farm, and enjoying the simple things that mattered most. Tommy attended Red Bluff Church and carried those values with him throughout his life.
Above all, Tommy loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Laura Bell; his daughter, Cristan Bell; and his stepchildren, Debbie Hodges, Jim Friese, and Brittany Baxter. He also leaves behind his brother, Duggie Bell (Regina), along with his nieces and nephews, Buddy Bell (Nikki), Matthew Bell, and Katelyn Yates (Leon).
He is reunited in passing with his brother, Ricky Bell; his mother, Joe Volf; his stepfather, Tony Volf; and his father, Thomas Bell.
Tommy will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his creativity, and the way he quietly took care of the people and things he loved.
Honorary Pallbearers Lean Yates, Craig Steinhaus, Gary Bragg, Dean Bragg, Troy Ward, and William Bell
