James "Floyd" Williams, of Hiltonia, Georgia, passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Born on April 3, 1941, in Colgate, Maryland, Floyd spent his life dedicated to his family, his country, and his community.
After completing his service as an Airman 2nd Class E-3 in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963, Floyd channeled his strong work ethic into a fulfilling career in construction, proudly contributing to the industry for 18 years. Following his time in construction, he transitioned to a career as a truck driver, continuing to work until 2004.
Floyd was actively involved in his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge #301 and dedicated Deacon of Hiltonia Baptist Church.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Lori King (Mathew) and Renay Hogan (Britton); brother, Bobby Williams; grandchildren, Raymond, Ryan, Jessica, Amanda and Katey; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his four legged companion, Billy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robbie Lee Williams and Lillian White Williams, brothers, George Williams, David Williams and James Paul Williams; and his previous furry companion, Patch.
This Sunday, January 11 at 11:00am during the regular church service at Hiltonia Baptist Church, there will be a brief dedication and informal gathering following to honor Floyd and remember his life.
A formal memorial service will be held at a later date, late February to early March, when he will be laid to rest in Bascom Cemetery. Details will be shared when arrangements are complete.
