Mr. James Whitley Scott, Sr., age 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

Born on August 6, 1955, in Okaloosa County, Florida, Jimmy was the son of the late Whitley Walter Scott and Elaine Cynthia Cole. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family.

On November 24, 1975, Jimmy married the love of his life, Betty Ann Lee. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Christina A. Scott and James W. Scott, Jr.

Jimmy was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Donald E. Autrey, Jr., Alexander J. Hughes, Leanna J. Scott, Autumn B. Scott, Mattilee R. Mock, and Gabriel D. Mock. He cherished every moment spent with them and found immense happiness in watching his family grow.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Jimmy is survived by his sister, Susie Scott Oglesby, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was predeceased by his parents, Whitley and Elaine Scott; and his sister, Brenda Scott Bailey.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Union Baptist Church with Pastor Al Usher officiating.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a charitable organization of your choice dedicated to helping those in need, a reflection of Jimmy's caring spirit.

The Scott family sincerely appreciates the love, prayers, and expressions of sympathy extended to them during this difficult time and asks that you continue to remember them in your prayers as they seek God's comfort and healing.
