Irene Sutton

Mrs. Irene McMillan Sutton, age 70, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 1, 2026.

Born on June 13, 1955, in Sylvania, Georgia, Irene was a lifelong resident of the community she loved and called home. A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with love, warmth, and compassion.

Irene was known for her kind and generous spirit. She had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone in need. Her selflessness, gentle nature, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She never met a stranger and was always ready with a helping hand, a kind word, or a listening ear.

One of Irene's greatest joys was spending time fishing along the river. She found peace in the outdoors and treasured the simple moments spent with family and friends. Her love for others, her strength, and her unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles "Chuck" Sutton; her parents, Rudolph McMillan and Luree Waters McMillan; her daughter, Donna Sutton; and her siblings, James McMillan, Waldene McMillan, Betty Jean Cannon Newton, Rita Faye Lewis, Herman McMillan, Gerald McMillan, Roger "Duck" McMillan, Hubert McMillan, and William "Bub" McMillan.

Survivors include her daughter, Patti Petrowski; her adopted son, Johnny Johnson; her sister, Carolyn Potter; her grandchildren, Heather Weaver (Josh) and Jenny Oliver; her lifelong friend, Peggy Callahan; as well as many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Screven Memorial Cemetery.
