Gwendolyn "Gwen" Sturdivant

Gwendolyn (Gwen) Smith Sturdivant, age 94, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 29, 2026 in Sylvania, Georgia.

Gwen loved to cook for her family especially her homemade vegetable soup. Which will be sorely missed by all of her loved ones.

Gwen is preceded in death by her husband, James Sturdivant, Sr.; parents, Mr. James Sibley and Mrs. Arrie Williams Smith; sons, Jimmy and Gary Sturdivant; brothers, John Willie, Warren and James Smith; sisters, Geneva Stephenson, Ida Harrison, Doris Oglesby and Arrie West.

Gwen is survived her sister, Alice Slater; son, Wayne Bragg, daughter, Kathy Johnson; niece, Sherry Smith; daughters in law, Jeane Sturdivant and Cherril Sturdivant; brother in law, David West; several nieces, nephews and lots and lots of grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Pineview Nursing Home and Regency Hospice for their care of Gwen.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 31, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel. The family will visit with friends following the service at the funeral home.
