Edward Lehue Sheley, lovingly known as “Lehue,” passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on May 3, 1951, Lehue lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and deep pride in the life he built. He was a dedicated member of Local 96 and retired from J.D. Burns & Sons after years of faithful service. Known for his strong work ethic and steady determination, Lehue believed in doing things the right way and giving his best in all he did.
He found his greatest happiness outdoors — working the land, riding his tractor, hunting, and simply “moseying around.” He took tremendous pride in his homestead and the simple, meaningful life he created there. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, who were the center of his world.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Marie Sheley; his parents, Esley and Lucille Sheley; his infant brother, Esley Leonard Sheley; and his granddaughter, Kadence Sheley.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Edward Lehue Sheley, Jr., and William Eric Sheley, Sr. (Anna), both of Sylvania; Brian E. Sheley (Amy) of Guyton; and Kristy Weaver (Chip) of Sylvania; his grandchildren, Erica Sheley, Pamela Sheley, William Eric Sheley, Jr., Serenity Sheley, Jemma Sheley, Haley Waters, Cayman Sheley, Caitlin Smith (Dayton), Madison LaFleur, Gracie LaFleur, Jett Sheley, Wyatt LaFleur, Brantley Sheley, Michael Weaver, and Leah Marie Weaver; his great-grandchildren, Justin Dye, Jr., Reese Smith, and Cameron Burke; and his brother, William Harris Sheley (Frances) of San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Thompson Strickland Waters – Joiner Anderson Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Thompson Strickland Waters – Joiner Anderson Chapel. Interment will follow in Screven Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Weaver, Cayman Sheley, Billy Williams, Jett Sheley, Wyatt LaFleur, Eric Sheley, Brian Sheley, and Chip Weaver.
