Ed Bowen

Mr. Ed Bowen, 81, passed away peacefully at Ogeechee Area Hospice Center in Statesboro, GA on December 6, 2025. Mr. Ed was born on August 5, 1944, in Madison County, North Carolina, to the late Mr. Fred and Daisy Bowens.

Mr. Ed met and fell in love with Edna Rowe in his early 20’s, got married and shortly after moved to Georgia. He worked at several Dairy Farms throughout his life to provide for his family. He had three children, Rebecca Bowen Tayler, Regina Ann Bowen, and Ed Marvin Bowen.

He was a very simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved coon hunting with dogs, rabbit hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren upon retiring to whom he had a great deal in raising them.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edna Bowen; daughter, Regina Ann Bowen; parents, Fred and Daisy Bowens; and siblings, Faye Phillips, Kermitt Boings, May Boings, and Frank Boings.

Ed is survived by his children, Rebecca Bowen Tayler (Kenneth) of Sylvania and Ed Marvin Bowen (Jennifer) of Millen; six grandchildren; siblings, Rose Howell (Ed), Alice Moss (Harold), Thelma Williams, Joe Boings, James Bowens and Jack Boings (Ginny), Tommy Boings (Margeret); and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Millen City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Buddy Saxon, Jason Oglesby, Chuck Richardson, Will Tyler, James Bennett, and George Fowler.
