Dr. Andrew "Andy" Warren Lowther

July 5, 1956 — January 14, 2026

Sylvania

Dr. Andrew Warren “Andy” Lowther, age 69, became completely healed on Wednesday, January 14 after 17 plus years of bravely and courageously battling Parkinson’s disease.

Andy was born on July 5, 1956. He attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School. Andy served as an officer in the army. During his time of service, Andy traveled the world and eventually settled in Colorado Springs, CO where he owned multiple dental practices. In 2001, Andy moved his family to Salida, Colorado and joined Salida Family Dentistry, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the American Dental Association.

Andy was a dentist by trade and outdoor enthusiast by heart. He was a scholar, author, musician, and skilled sculptor. If you could dream it, Andy could build it. Whether it was his exquisite attention to details or his unmatched quick, dry wit, when Andy spoke, everyone was listening and most often laughing. He had an uncanny ability to make stories come to life, mostly about him and a buddy or three surviving a harrowing outdoor adventure! For Andy being surrounded by good people, good food, good music, preferably outside by a fire, equaled pure happiness. For those lucky enough to know Andy, he made their world a better place just by being in it.

Andy loved his family, his friends, and had a heart of gold. If you knew Andy, you loved him and knew that he loved you. It’s been said that Andy’s love was so deep that the ocean would be jealous, and that is an understatement. He was the world’s best hugger with arms as strong as an ox and a heart as gentle as a puppy. Andy embodied a quiet strength, an inner wisdom and a calming spirit. In Andy’s world, mountains were made for climbing! Whether scaling the rock cliffs of 14’ers as he did so many times, caring for those he loved, or punching Parkinson’s in the gut, Andy Lowther met each day with divine purpose, intent on making the world around him better for those he loved and those yet to come. Andy lived life to the fullest and spread joy everywhere he went. From his dental chair to the rocky trails of Colorado to the East Coast and everywhere in between, Andy was a collector of friends and a creator of smiles.

Andy was a devoted husband, loving life partner, admired father, doting papa and faithful friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Joyce Lowther, and his wife Terri Lynn Lowther.

He is survived by his loving partner of 18 plus years, Terri Lynn Luckie; his adored daughter, Jennifer(Andrew) Nycz; grandchildren, Layla and Daxton Nycz; daughter in love, Kelli(JD) Collins; grandchildren in love, JT, Kailey, Alex, Kendal, and Caroline; a sister, a nephew and numerous friends extending from California to Georgia that were like family.

The family will host a Celebration of Life in memory of Andy in both Georgia and Colorado at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Andy be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation (www.michaeljfox.org).

Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral & Cremation at Joiner Anderson Chapel (202 Ennis Street, Sylvania, GA) is in charge of arrangements.
