Buddy Howard, age 81, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
Born on January 26, 1945, in Screven County, Buddy was a hardworking man whose life was defined by dedication to his family, his faith, and his work. He served his country honorably for eight years in the Army National Guard. Throughout his life, he worked in many trades, including operating a family logging company for many years and working in the shipyard for Carolina Shipping Company. Most recently, he proudly owned and operated Howard Metal Buildings alongside his son.
Buddy was a mechanic his entire life and was known by family and friends as someone who could fix absolutely anything. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Above all else, Buddy loved his family deeply. His grandchildren were his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He was raised in Faith Temple Church and remained a faithful member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Soloman Howard and Marion Eudell Howard; and his siblings, Mardell Carter, Johnny Howard and Debbie Mock; and beloved niece Regina Schultz.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia Howard; his children, Jeffery Howard, Michelle Burnsed (Chris), and Mark Howard (Mandy); his grandchildren, Cheyanne, Charolette, River, Addison, Logan, Ariana, Jacob (Chasey), Clara, and Leah; his great-grandchildren, Alaina and Kalissa; his siblings, James Howard, Ann Price (Bill), and Patricia Lariscy; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home, Joiner Anderson Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Faith Temple Church Cemetery.
