“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
Boykin Walker Stuart, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 21, 2026, peacefully with his loving wife, Shelia, by his side.
He was born in Sylvania, Georgia on August 25, 1940, and grew up in Screven County. In 1958, he graduated from Screven County High School where he played baseball and developed a passion for fixing up cars. He held various jobs, including Brooks Auto Parts. In 1963, Boykin joined the army reserves where he served for six years. He was also an original employee at Torrington Bearing Company in Sylvania, Georgia where he worked several years.
In 1978, he bought Crockett Auto Parts and renamed it Stuart Auto Parts. Stuart Auto Parts served Sylvania for twenty-seven years and sponsored many youth baseball and softball teams where Boykin volunteered his time as a coach for decades. He loved what he did --- working with cars, serving his community, and caring for his employees. He loved Screven County.
Boykin was a long-time, devoted member of First Baptist Church Sylvania, where he faithfully served as a deacon and was actively involved in the men’s ministry and Sunday School program. He loved Jesus and spent much of his time ministering to others. Without fail, he could be found Tuesday mornings at the men’s prayer breakfast and both the Wednesday night and Sunday Church Services. He also enjoyed spending time at Rusty’s/Pojo Guru’s for morning get-togethers with friends and at Ray Lariscy’s Service Station.
Boykin was a deeply loving and committed husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. For 61 years, he shared a strong marriage with his wife, Shelia, built on love, devotion, laughter, and faith in God. He was an incredibly proud father to his two beautiful children, Laura and Jason, whom he loved and cherished very much. A dedicated father and grandfather, Boykin spent countless hours at dance recitals, sporting events, and family dinners. He loved the game of baseball, mowing his yard, tinkering with cars, and Shelia’s cooking. More than that, he held dear the daily conversations he had with his daughter, Laura, and playing baseball with his son, Jason. Together for most of their lives, Boykin and Shelia’s marriage was centered around Christ, and they built a wonderful life together. His children and grandchildren treasure their legacy.
Boykin was preceded in death by his parents, Boykin W. and Lourine Walker Stuart and his beloved nephew, Chuck Boswell.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shelia Stuart, his loving children, Laura Stuart Kasay (John) and Jason Boykin Stuart (Nicole): his brother, William Stuart and his sister, Carolyn Boswell (Charlie): and eight grandchildren, Boykin Walker Stuart II (Malory), Steven Kasay (Chandler), Caroline Kasay Smith (Hayden), Laura Julianna Stuart, Savannah Kasay Bickel (Dalton), Christopher Kasay (Isabel), Jeremiah Stuart, and Georgia Beth Stuart: along with eight great-grandchildren and several much-loved nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, May 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church Sylvania with visitation starting at 1:30 pm in the Family Life Center .
