Mrs. Betty Sue Parker passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 with her family by her side. Betty Sue was born on July 7, 1931 to Henry Edward (Doc) Turner and Emma Lou Chance Turner. She spent her entire life in Screven County. She met and married her beloved husband, Raiford, while working for him as a telephone operator. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Betty Sue was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Sylvania, where she served faithfully. She was an active member of the Faith Sunday School Class. She served many years in the Children’s and Youth Departments as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed serving on numerous committees through the years. Betty Sue loved life and loved Christ and was committed to serving Him alongside her husband, Raiford. Betty Sue was preceeded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Cail Vaughan (Gene) and James Robert Turner (Gloria), granddaughter Amanda Jade Postell, nephews Kenny Floyd and Jack Renfroe, niece Carolyn Floyd, son-in-law Derrell A. Postell and sister-in-law Myrtle Parker Renfroe (Riley).
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Parker Postell and Sandy Parker Lanier (Charlie). Granddaughters Becky Black, Evan Chance (CJ), and Brooke Chance (Josh). Great grandchildren, Parker Fox, Abby Rice (Steven), Brett Black, Carsyn Anderson (Matt), Andrew Black, Brady Black, Parker Chance, Hunter Chance, Mason Chance, Rylee Chance, Charlee Jane Chance, and Adalee Chance. Nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Tucker, Emily Lott (Bob), Eddie Turner (Rhonda), Clyde Turner (Missy), and Sue Whitener (Dennis). Visitation will be at Sylvania First Baptist Church on Saturday, September 13 from 10:30-12:00 in the Life Center. Funeral to follow at 12:00 in the Sanctuary. Interment will be at Screven County Memorial Cemetery following the service.
