Abbie Lee Cook Thompson

Abbie Lee Cook Thompson, 58, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Hospital in Statesboro surrounded by her children.

Born on June 17, 1968, in Marion, Ohio, Abbie lived a life defined by love for her family, generosity toward others, and an appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Abbie worked at R&D’s & PoJos Country Store, where she built many friendships.

She found happiness outdoors and especially loved spending time in her garden, taking pride in making things grow and bloom. She also enjoyed fishing, hunting for Indian artifacts, and helping others whenever she could. Abbie had a truly giving heart and was known by those who loved her as someone who was always willing to offer kindness, support, and encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Thompson; her father, Tom Cook, Sr.; and her mother, Cathy Cook.

Abbie leaves behind her children, Ashley Wood, Matt Thompson, Kelly Thompson (Brittney), and Zach Thompson; her beloved grandchildren, Jace Pate, Cameron Thompson, Logan Thompson, Aubrie Thompson, Will Thompson, and Mia Thompson; her siblings, Angie Cook, Tonya DeLoach, Tom Cook, Jr., and Tim Cook; and her sisters-in-law and their spouses, Jackie Conner (Ray) and Kelli Wade (Michael), along with many extended family members and friends.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made directly toward funeral expenses.
