BETTY JEAN BEARD GROSS EASLER
Betty Jean Gross Easler, age 92, widow of Morris Russell Easler, of Sylvania, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 29, 2023, at The Gardens Senior Living in Statesboro, GA.
Jean was born on July 2, 1930, to the late couple Joe & Lessie Beard in Sylvania, GA. Jean was a homemaker, and worked for 16 years as an accounts payable clerk for Torrington Co. Following retirement, she provided home childcare to the community. Jean was a member of Sylvania 1st United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, of 29 years, Edward W. Gross; her second husband, Morris Easler; and her youngest son, Thomas W. Gross.
Those who will cherish her memories include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria & Tommy Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward, Jr & Karen Gross, Johnny & Lisa Gross, Timmy & Karen Gross; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her legacy as “Ma” will live on through her family and all who knew her. She was famous for her Easter tree and Christmas decorations. She will also be remembered for her love of cooking, gardening, canning and keeping her yard immaculate.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home. Nic Gross will officiate the funeral service that will commence after visitation at 3:00 P.M., with interment to follow at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
