Mary Ellen Morton Tilley Porterfield

Sylvania, GA – Mary Ellen Morton Tilley Porterfield, age 89, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, at her residence under the care of Kindred Hospice and her loving family. She was born in Effingham County to the late David & Alma Godley Morton. She was retired from Seaboard Farms of Athens, GA and was of Baptist faith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: William Marshal Porterfield; Sisters: Shirley Cryder, Doris Brower and Joyce Brabham; Brothers: Bobby Morton, William Morton and Buddy Morton.

Survivors: Daughters and Son-In-Law: Joann & Gill Stewart of Newington and Janice Mercer of Sylvania; Sisters and Brother-In-Law: Melba Brabham of Springfield, GA and Peggy & Mack Beasley of Sylvania; Grandchildren: Larry Naylor, Joe Naylor, Charlie (Teresa) Naylor, Craig (Kelli) Counts, Sandy Counts, James (Shanna) Stewart, Joni (David) Hammet, Becky (Chris) Mercer and Andrea (Jim) Lee; 16 Great-Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Jenkins officiating.  Burial at Buck Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Larry Naylor, Joe Naylor, Charlie Naylor, James Stewart, Craig Counts and Ryan White. Honorary Pallbearers: Rev. Max Hall, Betty Hall, T.W. Evans, Noonie Smoak, Dell Brabham, Terry Brabham and Kenny Brabham.
